<p>Seong-hyun Kim of Yeonggwang returned to his hometown 14 years ago to start farming. From his very first year, he challenged himself with Organic Farming but tasted a devastating failure. <p>Since then, Mr. Kim eagerly attended JADAM lectures and began making donations. Overcoming his disastrous failure, he even obtained organic certification. However, due to the large scale of his farm, direct sales became difficult to manage, and weeding proved too laborious. <p>Before JMP was invented, he struggled with pepper anthracnose. However, last year, he experienced effective control against anthracnose using JADAM Microbial Pesticide with Sulfur (JMP.S), which is JMP with sulfur added. <p>When culturing JMS, Mr. Kim installs a heater rod at the bottom of the container instead of using a coil immersion heater, and cultures it by leaving the leftover microbial sediment without cleaning the container. By setting the temperature of 500 L of groundwater to 30°C and adding 500 g of leaf mold soil, 500 g of salt, and 500 g of potato starch, the culture succeeds without a single failure, even without increasing the amount of leaf mold soil or potato starch, or adding other compost or urine.</p>

In the early days, right after he sprayed JMP, cabbage white butterfly caterpillars that got hit by the spray dropped right off, making him marvel at its high efficacy. However, when he checked back a short while later, those caterpillars had disappeared somewhere. When he asked Dr. Youngsang Cho about it, Dr. Cho explained that this can happen if the JADAM Microorganism Solution (JMS) is not cultured properly. Since then, he has paid much closer attention to culturing JMS.</p>

<p>Other farmers said it takes 20 to 24 hours, so to speed up the process, he tried adding some molasses, more leaf mold soil, and even Heuksari compost. However, even after 20 hours, rich bubbles did not form. Since he only needs to spray once a week, there was no need to be constrained by time. He left it alone and kept watching, and after 36 hours, the bubbles were boiling over. He concluded that it is best to culture without being obsessed with time, adapting the process to one&#39;s own pest control schedule.</p>

<p>Because coil immersion heaters break down or burn out once or twice a year without fail, he custom-built and used a separate temperature controller. This keeps the temperature consistently regulated and eliminates fire hazards. He continuously uses the leaf mold soil pouch until it becomes too heavy with accumulated sediment to lift; only when it gets that heavy does he discard the contents and refill it. He does not clean the JMS culture container either, simply filling it back up with water over the leftover microbial sediment to reuse it. Culturing this way still yields a highly active microbial solution where the bubbles do not easily break once they form.</p>

<p>Before JMP was invented, Mr. Kim unconditionally made and used the JADAM No. 12 Comprehensive Germicide and Pesticide (per 500 L: 1.2 L of JS, 10 L of JADAM Wetting Agent (JWA), and 15 L of JADAM Herbal Solution (JHS) made with ginkgo nuts). However, since planting his strawberry seedlings last September, he has been making and using JMP. After trying JMP, he found that spider mites were completely eradicated and no longer visible. It also controls aphids well, but some pale aphids remain on the undersides of the leaves. He believes the issue is that the spray did not thoroughly coat the undersides of the lower leaves near the ground while using the high-pressure sprayer. When controlling pests, it is crucial to spray thoroughly so that the solution coats the plants completely.</p>

<p>Looking at Mr. Kim&#39;s cultivation schedule, once the strawberry harvest ends in May, he floods the greenhouse, closes all the doors, and performs solarization. From July, he conducts fertigation with JADAM Microorganism Solution (JMS) about 4 times on the strawberry ridges before planting the strawberry seedlings in September. Prior to planting, he applies about 30 bags of Heuksari compost per 150 pyeong (≈ 0.12 acres). Once the strawberries begin to bloom, he dissolves compound fertilizer in water and injects it during fertigation.</p>

Finding it a hassle to weigh the salt every time, he puts 10 kg of salt in a 45 L container to make saltwater, and scoops out 2 L with a beaker each time to add to the mixture.</p>

<p>For one tank, Mr. Choi cultured JMS by leaving the leaf mold soil residue from the previous batch in the mesh bag and simply adding more leaf mold soil residue from the previous batch in the mesh bag and simply adding more leaf mold soil, resulting in a much faster and richer culture. He has repeated this process of adding leaf mold soil without washing the bag up to 5 consecutive times, and it consistently cultures richly without any issues. </p>

<p>Gyeong-seop Choi, who runs Chamsaegol Green Farm (Sparrow Valley Green Farm) in Sejong, says he thought he should do eco-friendly farming someday while taking KNF lectures from Master Cho when he was working. While working in Busan, he started farming in a kitchen garden, and after retiring, he took JADAM lectures in Hadong and settled in Sejong to start farming about 2.45 acres with small-scale production of multiple varieties. <p>He was actively practicing JADAM Natural Pesticide (JNP) by making JADAM Sulfur (JS) and JADAM Wetting Agent (JWA) and boiling ginkgo nuts (JHS). Upon hearing the news that JADAM Microbial Pesticide (JMP) was invented, he immediately started manufacturing it. Initially, when making the JMP, he cultured JADAM Microorganism Solution (JMS) by grinding boiled potatoes. However, after hearing that starch was more effective, he switched to using starch, but he faced continuous failures in culturing thereafter.</p>

<p>After failing more than 10 times, he inquired with Dr. Youngsang Cho and found that storing starch in a low-temperature warehouse was the problem. He bought new starch and tried culturing again, but the failures continued. Upon consulting with Dr. Cho again, he discovered the cause was not boiling the starch sufficiently. Since undercooked starch cannot serve as food (medium) for microorganisms, he changed his method from roughly boiling the starch to boiling it thoroughly until bubbles rose vigorously. Finally, the culturing JMS was successful. </p>

<p>First, never store starch in a low-temperature warehouse; keep it at room temperature. Second, when boiling starch, it is fine to boil it for a longer time, so boil it thoroughly until bubbles rise sufficiently. If you are careful about these two points, making JMS will proceed smoothly without significant difficulties. </p>

<p>In conventional organic farming, crop rotation is emphasized to prevent diseases, but JADAM thinks differently. In the JADAM method, continuous cropping, growing the same crop repeatedly, is believed to achieve higher yields more quickly. Thirty years of farming experiences have proven this to be true.</p>

<p>Continuous cropping disorder refers to the phenomenon in which the nutrients required by a crop become depleted as the same crop is cultivated repeatedly in the same soil, making cultivation increasingly difficult. Therefore, most farmers have been taught to practice crop rotation and believe it is the only path to abundant harvests. However, JADAM began to question whether continuous cropping necessarily leads to crop failure and sought answers from nature. </p>

<p>In nature, there is no such thing as “crop rotation". The same species can grow in one place for decades, even centuries, without any problem. The trees in the forest do not wither with time. Instead, they become even more lush. This is because nature does not view stems and leaves as sources of disease but as nutrients to sustain life. In autumn, fallen leaves and branches return to the soil, becoming nutrients for the trees once again. This is nature’s continuous cropping, the most perfect form of farming.<br />
The difference between human farming and nature’s farming is that humans remove stems and leaves from the field, thinking they are breeding grounds for disease and pests, while nature recycles them as the best source of nutrients. The stems and leaves contain precisely the nutrients that the crop needs. When they return to the soil and decompose, they become fertilizer with the ideal nutritional balance for that crop.</p>

<p>JADAM sees crop residues not as a source of disease, but as a rich source of nutrients. Therefore, JADAM strongly recommends making compost or liquid fertilizer from crop residues and returning them to the soil. Through this process, the soil becomes more nutrient-rich each year, eliminating continuous cropping problems and allowing for truly abundant harvests. </p>

<p>Many agricultural experts claim that crop residues must be removed to prevent diseases such as anthracnose or powdery mildew in the following season. However, these pathogens already exist naturally in the soil as part of the microbial ecosystem. Removing crop residues does not eliminate them. Just as humans cannot completely separate themselves from the common cold virus, the key is not to eradicate microbes but to maintain a healthy ecological balance. </p>

<p>JADAM researches and promotes organic farming techniques, but it does not support crop rotation. Agricultural technology should follow nature. Nature does not discard diseased leaves, it transforms them back into nutrients. <p>The beet armyworm (Spodoptera exigua) is a pest widely distributed across the world, inhabiting temperate and subtropical regions. It particularly prefers warm and dry climates and causes severe damage in Asia, including Korea, as well as in North America. With the expansion of international trade and logistics, infestations are increasingly being reported in new climate zones.</p>

<p>The beet armyworm is a highly polyphagous pest, attacking over 200 different crops. Major hosts include vegetables, beans, ornamentals, and cotton, where it causes significant damage. Depending on the temperature and region, it can produce 5–7 or more generations per year. After hatching, larvae actively feed on crops for 2–3 weeks before pupating and then emerging as adults to repeat the cycle. The larval stage is the most destructive: early instar larvae (1st–2nd instars) feed in groups on the undersides of leaves, scraping away the tissue and leaving only the epidermis, resulting in whitish damage (leaf “skeletonization”). As larvae grow (3rd instar and beyond), they consume entire leaves or bore into fruits and stems, causing much more serious injury. If not controlled at this stage, crop growth is severely hindered, and yields drop drastically.</p>

<p>The beet armyworm is notorious for developing resistance to chemical pesticides. Repeated use of the same pesticide quickly becomes ineffective, and cross-resistance to new chemicals often develops as well. Its rapid reproduction and high fecundity mean that missing the control window leads to explosive population increases. Since adults are nocturnal while larvae hide during the day on leaf undersides or inside plant tissues, pesticides often fail to reach them effectively. With its wide range of host crops, infestations also spread rapidly.</p>

<p>Multinational pesticide companies are racing to develop microbial pesticides against this pest, but most of these products remain expensive, narrow in spectrum, and only partially effective. <p> <strong>The ten-spotted ladybird beetle</strong> <em>(Henosepilachna decempunctata)</em> is an insect belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Coccinellidae. Its body length is around 1 cm, with a light yellowish-brown color marked by 10 distinct black spots, making it look very similar to beneficial ladybird beetles. It is widely distributed across Asia, including Korea, Japan, China, India, and Southeast Asia.</p>

<p>This beetle causes significant damage to crops, particularly those in the <strong>Solanaceae</strong> family. Both adults and larvae feed on the epidermis and mesophyll of leaves, leaving only the veins and creating a net-like appearance. Severe damage disrupts photosynthesis, stunts plant growth, and reduces yields. The beetle is active mainly from May to September, with peak damage occurring in June and July when larvae are abundant. Depending on the climate, it has 3–4 generations per year. Overwintered adults attack crops in spring and lay eggs, which hatch in 1–2 weeks. The larvae then cause major damage before pupating and emerging as adults, repeating the cycle throughout the growing season. Populations increase rapidly during the summer months.</p>

<p>Most ladybird beetles are well-known as beneficial insects that prey on aphids, but the ten-spotted ladybird beetle is often mistaken for such beneficial species due to its similar appearance. Unlike predatory ladybirds, this species is <strong>plant-feeding</strong>, making it a pest rather than a natural enemy of aphids. Some related phytophagous ladybirds have even been reported to bore into and feed on eggplant fruits, creating further confusion for farmers. While the commonly beneficial ladybird has seven spots, this pest species is marked with ten spots, and its relative, the large 28-spotted ladybird beetle (Henosepilachna vigintioctomaculata), has 28 spots and also damages crops.</p>

<p>Unlike many insect pests that damage crops only at specific stages, both adults and larvae of the ten-spotted ladybird beetle feed on plants throughout the growing season, making damage prolonged and severe. Its wide range of host plants also makes it difficult to control. With multiple generations per year and high reproductive capacity -each female lays hundreds of eggs - the population grows quickly. Adults are capable of flight, allowing them to migrate easily between fields. Chemical pesticides can achieve partial control, but larvae often hide on the undersides of leaves where sprays cannot reach, and adults can escape and reinfest crops. Furthermore, the beetle quickly develops resistance, reducing the effectiveness of repeated pesticide use.</p>
